The Minded Yoga Therapy has helped me to truly understand the connection between body, mind and heart, not only for myself but also in my work as a psychotherapist and mindfulness teacher. It is doing some wonderful work bringing minded yoga to communities that wouldn't otherwise have access.

I first heard Heather Mason talk at a yoga therapy conference in London and fell in love with the work of the Minded Institute instantly. A truly compassionate organisation that is clearly shaping the way in which yoga therapy and mindfulness for mental and physical health is approached in the UK and beyond.

I had high expectations upon joining the course, but so far it has managed to exceed my expectations, delivering the highest standard of academic and professional training I have ever received. I couldn't be happier I made the decision to study with Minded and I can't wait for the rest of the journey ahead with them.

Further Information
“A truly inspirational course. A journey of learning, growth and empowerment with leading experts who are passionate about their work and the benefits of yoga to support wellbeing. Through the unique blend of neuroscience, yoga principles, physiology, anatomy and therapeutic principles I have been able to reach out and help many people in a genuinely remarkable way which has truly complemented my yoga teaching. On a personal note I have met many amazing friends during the course and enjoyed the family style Sangha. I didn’t want it to end.”

The Minded Institute is an international leader in the field of yoga therapy education, and our professional diploma pathway is one of the most respected, evidence-informed trainings in the UK and across the world. This comprehensive programme allows you to fully immerse yourself in a learning experience that bridges ancient wisdom and modern science.
Since 2009, we have been providing world-class, compassion-focused education, blending the wisdom of the yogic and Buddhist traditions with detailed medical knowledge, neuroscience and psychology.
Our yoga therapy training is recognised for its comprehensive approach, where students explore the latest mind–body research and its application to yoga and mindfulness. You will learn evidence-based methods for supporting specific mental and physical health conditions, appropriate to your stage of training and scope of practice, while developing your own safe, effective and authentic therapeutic style.
We offer two professional entry pathways through the full 675-hour Professional Diploma in Yoga Therapy, following completion of the Year One Minded Therapist training, plus an optional progression to IAYT accreditation:
-
Pathway 1 — Yoga Professionals: For qualified yoga teachers, accredited by the British Council for Yoga Therapy (BCYT) and the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NCIP).
-
Pathway 2 — Health and Mental Health Professionals: For medical, allied health and mental health practitioners, accredited by the NCIP. No prior yoga teacher training is required.
-
Progression to Advanced Diploma: Graduates of Pathway 1 may progress to the Advanced Integrative Minded Yoga Therapy Diploma (835 hours) with International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) accreditation. We are the only UK training provider with a diploma accredited by the IAYT.
Across all pathways, our unique course structure balances theoretical depth with practical application, ensuring students graduate as confident, capable and compassionate therapists.
The course begins with an in-depth exploration of the brain and major physiological systems, examining the evidence linking brain, behaviour, physiology and pathology within the framework of the yogic kosha model. From this foundation, each module examines one mental health condition and one physical health condition, the therapeutic yogic and mindfulness approaches that support them, and the research evidence behind these applications. Experiential anatomy is explored from structural, energetic and psychological perspectives, supported by practical assessments and tutorials.
You will develop essential clinical skills, study breathing practices and their energetic, physiological and psychological effects, and explore a range of meditation techniques with a particular focus on mindfulness, reflecting the founder’s long-standing Buddhist practice. We also examine key yogic philosophical concepts and how to share them appropriately with clients from a variety of cultural and personal perspectives.
Our learning methods provide a 360-degree approach, combining lectures, discussion, experiential practice in asana, breathwork and meditation, clinical and teaching skills, partner and group activities, supervised client work, observation of yoga therapy sessions, and guided reflection and journaling. Between modules, you will consolidate your learning through regular home practice, client sessions and reflective assignments.
The training runs in the UK over sixteen modules, Thursday to Sunday, 9:00am to 5:30pm (Sundays finish at 5:00pm). Online modules are live via Zoom, and in-person modules take place in a central London venue. Students may choose to attend entirely online or follow a hybrid format, combining in-person and online learning.
Following the taught modules, students complete an in-depth written exploration of a research topic and supervised case studies, applying their learning in real-world contexts.
