About
Veena is a London-based Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, EMDR therapist, and Yoga Therapist with over 10 years of experience working with depression and anxiety disorders within the NHS and privately.
Veena works with a variety of difficulties ranging from specific disorders to more general life challenges. These may include: depression, generalised anxiety, anxiety related to specific situations such as health, social situations, specific phobias, panic attacks/disorders, OCD, PTSD, and low self-esteem. As a CBT, EMDR, and Yoga Therapist, Veena can work within either of these approaches or in a more integrative way, combining aspects from these different therapies. She also draws on mindfulness, compassion, and acceptance-based approaches.
In addition to her clinical work, Veena delivers workshops teaching therapists about the integration of breath and body practices with CBT approaches. She is a lecturer and supervisor for therapists in training and has also been involved in research, having worked on a study assessing the effects of the Minded Institute Yoga Therapy 8-week course, and worked with Dr. Luciano Bernardi, professor of internal medicine at the University of Pavia, Italy, to assess the effects of different breathing techniques and rates on baroreflex sensitivity.
Veena’s personal yoga and mindfulness practise, which has been ongoing for over twenty years, inspires her holistic approach to her own wellbeing as well as that of her clients.
