The Minded Institute (TMI) has long been associated with Eat Breathe Thrive. In 2023 the two organisations formed an official partnership with the non-profit organisation. Their mission? To prevent and help people recover from eating disorders.
This is very much aligned with the mission of The Minded Institute, “To share, educate and help every person towards improving their own mental and physical health”. Eat Breathe Thrive offers programmes that combine yoga, psychoeducation, and peer support to ‘help people help one another’ on the path to recovery.
Eat Breathe Thrives’ History
Eat Breathe Thrive was founded in 2013 by Chelsea Roff, a yoga therapist and researcher who recovered from an eating disorder in her late teens. Chelsea knew personally the difference yoga could make in recovery. She was keen to conduct the scientific research necessary to get yoga into healthcare. In the decade since, Eat Breathe Thrive has helped over 10,000 people achieve recovery, trained 3500+ yoga and health professionals, and supported five studies on the benefits of yoga for eating disorders.
Her vision in creating the organisation was to ensure all people have access to the resources they need to recover. Thus meaning, they are able to more meaningfully contribute to themselves, their loved ones, and their communities.
Chelsea’s story is not too dissimilar from the story of Heather Mason. Through her own mental health journey, Heather birthed the The Minded Institute in 2009.
Partnership Story
The Minded Institute are proud to call Eat Breathe Thrive a partner. Together, the two organisations deliver yoga therapy education. This aids those in their journey with mental health and eating disorders.
TMI are passionate about raising awareness of tools and techniques to help at least one person on their eating disorder recovery. Thus far, TMI and Eat Breathe Thrive have collaborated on programmes, seminars, events, courses and talks. Together, thousands of people have been reached, however there is still more work to be done.
