Careers in Yoga Therapy is a new initiative from The Minded Institute and Essential Yoga Therapy, exploring how yoga therapists are building professional lives across healthcare, clinical, community and wider wellbeing settings. We’re thrilled that the next panel will run as part of Global Yoga Therapy Day, organised by the International Association of Yoga Therapists and launched in 2019 to unite the yoga therapy profession worldwide.
Join Heather Mason and Robin Rothenberg for the next live discussion, hosted as part of Global Yoga Therapy Day on 14 August 2026.
About the Series
Careers in Yoga Therapy is an ongoing collaborative series established by The Minded Institute and Essential Yoga Therapy, hosted by Heather Mason and Robin Rothenberg.
The series brings together yoga therapists and other professionals to explore how careers in yoga therapy are being developed in real-world settings. It responds to the need for greater visibility around professional pathways, emerging opportunities and the practical realities of establishing sustainable work within this developing field.
The first Careers in Yoga Therapy panel brought together practitioners working across a range of healthcare, community and clinical contexts, generating a valuable and wide-ranging conversation that laid the foundation for the series to continue and reach a broader professional audience.
What the Panel Explores
- How yoga therapists undertook their yoga therapy training and developed their professional pathways
- Where yoga therapy is currently being applied
- The realities and challenges of building sustainable work
- How practitioners communicate the role of yoga therapy
- Emerging opportunities across healthcare and wider wellbeing settings
- How the profession may continue to develop
You can learn more about the wider initiative through our Careers in Yoga Therapy page, including access to the first panel recording.
Meet the Panelists
The next live discussion takes place as part of Global Yoga Therapy Day 2026.
Heather Mason and Robin Rothenberg will be joined by Maryam Ovissi, Rebel Tucker, and Yanar Alkayat.
Together, they will explore professional journeys, current clinical and community work, challenges within the field, and the evolving role of yoga therapy across healthcare and wider wellbeing contexts.
The panel offers an opportunity to hear directly from established yoga therapists about how professional pathways are being created in practice, rather than presenting one fixed or predetermined route into the field.
What Is Global Yoga Therapy Day?
Global Yoga Therapy Day is an annual international event presented by the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
The theme for 2026 is:
Yoga Therapy Around the World: Charting a Course to Integration and Impact
The free virtual event brings together yoga therapists, healthcare professionals, educators, researchers and members of the wider community for a full day of international presentations, conversations and experiential practices.
This year’s programme explores how yoga therapy is being applied across different cultures, communities and healthcare environments, with contributions addressing research, professional competencies, inclusive practice and the continued integration of yoga therapy into healthcare.
The full event runs from 12pm to 11.30pm BST. Participants may attend the whole day or join individual sessions of particular interest.
Careers in Yoga Therapy at IAYT’s Global Yoga Therapy Day
We are delighted to be bringing the Careers in Yoga Therapy series to Global Yoga Therapy Day in collaboration with the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Presenting the panel through this international event allows the conversation to reach a much broader audience of yoga therapists, trainees, educators, researchers and healthcare professionals around the world.
It also supports one of the central aims of the series: to create greater continuity and visibility around professional development in yoga therapy, moving beyond isolated conversations and highlighting the breadth of work already taking place across the field.
By sharing different professional experiences and approaches, the panel aims to contribute to a more realistic, connected and internationally informed understanding of what a career in yoga therapy can involve.
