Description
An increasing body of evidence demonstrates that yoga offers great health value, and it is beginning to impact healthcare worldwide. This one-day workshop offers Healthcare Professionals, Carers, Care Staff, and Community Workers simple and effective yoga techniques that can be used for oneself and for patients, staff members, residents, and relatives.
By the end of the workshop, participants will know how to demonstrate basic yoga movement, breath, and relaxation techniques that can easily be practised and shown to others. You will learn key postures from each of the main groups, including standing poses, forward and back bends, twists, sun salutations, and simple inversions. We will also look at the importance of postural alignment, the breath, and mindfulness meditation. You will be encouraged to ask as many questions as you like throughout the day, so you come away with a clear understanding of all aspects of a yoga practice.
What the training will cover:
• Introduction to yogic philosophical ideas that support well-being.
• Basic yogic techniques.
• Overview of yoga postures, with an introduction to some basic postures and movements, including a series of poses to free up all the major joints in the body.
• Introduction to simple relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and the benefits.
Who the training is for and eligibility:
For those who want to go further, this workshop provides the background and knowledge to follow the Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga Teacher Training course, and it fulfils the prerequisite for those without a yoga teacher qualification.

Testimonials
‘It was a great balance of theory and practical. … I have been doing CPD for the best part of 20 years, and it’s rare now for me to find something new I want to do that I haven’t done before, but also that makes for an interesting day of learning. This was fab. … I thought it was fantastically presented. I know it’s tricky delivering content to a zoom audience, but you did an amazing job of delivering great content in an engaging manner. … Thank you!!’

‘I loved how [the course] was structured and that you incorporated a lot of practical into the day to not just help teach the content but to help us be able to receive the knowledge. I thought you covered a huge variety in just one day, your ethos and passion for making yoga accessible was super inspiring and I love all that you are doing to encourage yoga to be incorporated into health care. The day has completely lit a fire in me to push on further with my yoga training and go as far as I can in this field. … There was such a good balance of practical and sitting and listening. The resources where clear and structured beautifully to cover all that you needed too. You gave us plenty of time to talk and ask questions, and there were also enough breaks to make the day digestible.’

‘I enjoyed the mix of teaching and movement – it felt good to have them both intertwined within the day. … Liz clearly has a lot of knowledge and love for accessible movement. I enjoyed hearing about some of the history of yoga, and more about the 8 limbs – not just focusing on the movement side of yoga, but all of the different aspects. This course gave a really good overall understanding of yoga, which I really appreciated.’
