Yoga for chronic pain is transforming lives — and the way we treat long-term pain. With millions affected and conventional treatments often falling short, demand is growing for integrated, evidence-based solutions. Yoga therapy and mindfulness are increasingly recognised in research and clinical care for their role in chronic pain management.
This 30-credit IAYT-approved CPD course, Yoga for Chronic Pain, is led by Dr. Raquel Chinchetru, an NHS Clinical Specialist in Pain Management with over 20 years’ experience in yoga therapy and a doctorate in Health Psychology focused on chronic pain. Drawing on her deep academic and clinical background, she will guide you through practical, research-informed approaches to help clients manage pain more effectively, whether physical, psychological, or both.
If you want to see more of Dr Chinchetru, you can also access her recorded seminar, “Beyond the Eyes”, where she reveals how visual-somatic practices support relaxation, postural alignment, and nervous system balance.

Description
Yoga Therapy and Mindfulness for Chronic Pain: CPD Training for Health and Yoga Professionals
Join one of the UK’s leading experts in yoga therapy for chronic pain, Dr Raquel Chincetru, to learn how to apply an integrative, whole-person approach when working with clients experiencing persistent pain. Following years of delivering this course, Raquel has expanded the training to include an additional full day of new and extended material.
Chronic pain is one of the most widespread and challenging health issues in the world. In the UK alone, around 28 million people – nearly two in five adults – live with persistent pain (British Journal of Medicine). Despite the wide range of medical treatments available, many continue to face significant discomfort, limited mobility, and reduced quality of life.
This professional training, suited to both health and yoga professionals, brings together current research, established best practice in yoga therapy and mindfulness for chronic pain, along with the insight and unique knowledge that Raquel brings to this work.
With over a decade of experience working with thousands of clients, a doctorate in psychology, an MSc in Health Psychology, a degree in Fine Arts, and two complete yoga therapy trainings, she brings a perspective and depth of knowledge that is simply not available elsewhere.
During this training, you will learn up-to-date theories and research on persistent pain, and how to apply a whole-person health approach when working with individuals living with chronic pain, informed by the natural creativity and innovative thinking Raquel is known for.
You will also learn how to work in a way that is safe, evidence-informed, and clinically relevant, while remaining responsive to the complexity of each person’s experience. Whether you are working with back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, or other persistent conditions, this training will equip you with a nuanced, integrative set of tools to address pain across physical, psychological, and social dimensions.
Please note that this training does not address chronic pain arising from specific anatomical pathologies, as this falls within the scope of practice of physiotherapists.
Why Yoga Therapy for Chronic Pain and Mindfulness for Chronic Pain?
Pain is complex, shaped not only by physical injury or illness, but also by psychological, behavioural, and social factors. Effective management requires an approach that can respond to this complexity.
Yoga therapy, when enhanced by mindfulness, offers a uniquely integrative framework for pain management. Mindfulness promotes insight and helps individuals recontextualise their experience of sensations, while yoga therapy engages body, breath, and mind, together fostering a greater sense of self-agency.
