Description

Research shows that mental health is a leading cause of health burden among children and adolescents. Connection and attachment play a central role in how emotional regulation, well-being, and mental health develop across childhood and adolescence. Yoga therapy offers a uniquely powerful approach to mental health care through its accessible, biopsychosocial, and developmentally attuned nature.

Through its holistic lens, yoga therapy supports emotional regulation and helps build healthy relational bonds. By working with the body, nervous system, and relationship together, it provides a framework well-suited to the developmental needs of children and adolescents.

Connection and attachment in practice

In this 90-minute specialist seminar, Michelle Fury, an international expert with more than 20 years’ clinical experience, explores how yoga therapy addresses the developmental and relational needs of young people.

Drawing on attachment theory and neurobiology, Michelle examines how connection and relational safety shape emotional regulation, behaviour, and wellbeing across childhood and adolescence. She brings together scientific understanding and clinical insight to offer both conceptual clarity and practical relevance.

This seminar draws on years of Michelle’s clinical practice. It provides developmentally specific tools and a clear rationale for using them with children and adolescents. Participants explore how connection and attachment form the foundation of developmentally informed mental health support across therapeutic, educational, and home contexts.
