About
Zael Ligertwood is a yoga therapist and educator. Her unique areas of experience include endometriosis, ADHD, anxiety, and trauma-informed yoga therapy for refugees and children. Zael’s therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in ahimsa (non-harm), curiosity and guides her clients to attune to the wisdom of their bodies by creating space to slow down, move gently and turn inwards.
In addition to her roles as a yoga therapist and English teacher, she leads yoga classes for staff and children in schools across London, and in the past refugee camps, with the intention of holding a safe space for dysregulated, overwhelmed bodies to rest. In collaboration with charities and councils, Zael leads group yoga therapy sessions to help make yoga accessible and affordable. In 2026, Zael will begin training as an integrative yoga psychotherapist.
Zael is passionate about the magic of moving and breathing at a slower, gentler pace, and playful somatic exploration. She believes yoga therapy is central to developing regulation and mindfulness tools, enhancing self-efficacy and care.
She is a Supervisor on the Minded Institute’s Yoga Therapy programme. Her specialised training in Yoga Therapy for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Perinatal Mental and Physical Health and Chair Yoga fill her with an even deeper awe of yoga and the many ways it supports all our layers.
As well as practising yoga, Zael loves being outdoors, walking, running, cycling, swimming, gardening, reading and resting in the sun.
