About

Sam is a yoga therapist and trainee integrative yoga psychotherapist who specialises in working with people experiencing life transitions and those who are curious about the bigger questions of life. She has a deep interest in mental health and the way that the insatiable demands of modern life make it so difficult to find the peace, contentment and balance that we seek. In her own recovery from a mental health crisis and burnout in 2013, she accessed a range of traditional therapies, whilst also discovering yoga, which helped her to find a new level of mental clarity and transformed the relationship she had with her body.

Conscious that the positive impact in her own life came from the intersection of therapy and mind-body practices, she embarked on her own journey of integration and learning. She trained first as a yoga teacher and qigong instructor, then deepened her understanding of mind-body connection and nervous system regulation through yoga therapy training. Her current psychotherapy training is helping her hone her therapeutic skills and gain greater insight into the mechanisms of change within a therapeutic relationship.

Alongside these trainings, Sam has a deep interest in exploring how the spiritual dimension of life can be an important support on our journey of healing and wholeness. She believes that every person has a profound wisdom and knowing within them, even if it often feels drowned out by the noise of the mind. Her yoga therapy sessions combine grounding and regulation skills with powerful practices of self-enquiry and self-realisation. She aims to support people to gain access to this wisdom and bring it forth into every element of their lives.

Sam currently works for two Yorkshire-based charities offering 1:1 yoga therapy and workshops to teach nervous system regulation, grounding, breathwork and mindful movement. She also has a private yoga therapy practice, teaches weekly yoga and qigong classes and co-leads immersive retreats in the UK and Sweden.
