About Julia

Julia discovered yoga as a teenager. She was amazed to find that a regular home practice calmed her anxiety, relieved her asthma and alleviated her chronic aches and pains. Whilst working in the complementary health field, Julia realised the profound potential of yoga as a healing modality. She began her teacher training in 2003 and has been studying and teaching yoga ever since.

Julia loves to share yoga therapy practices with people who believe that can’t “do” yoga. Unlike many regular yoga classes, yoga therapy is designed to meet the client where they are. You might be feeling exhausted, stiff, tense, anxious, achy or in pain. You may not be able to stand, or get to the floor, unaided. However, if you can breathe, you can do yoga.

About Yoga Therapy

Initially, we’ll explore your current life and health challenges alongside your goals, values and beliefs.  Over a period of at least 6-12 weeks, you’ll be introduced to accessible, yet powerful yoga practices, as well as knowledge from the fields of neuroscience, psychology and yoga philosophy. The practices are tailored to your needs and preferences, and are designed to support you to feel safe and grounded; and to build strength, confidence and resilience. This is a process of connecting to your innate inner wisdom and gradually discovering your capability to restore balance and ease.

During the sessions, we’ll identify and build the capacities that work to support your holistic health and well-being. You will never be asked to move into pain, to over-exert yourself, or do practices that don’t feel right for you. However, to enable positive change, you will be encouraged to do some simple “little and often” practices in between the yoga therapy sessions.
