About
I am a certified yoga therapist and yoga teacher, and I am nearing completion of my training to become an integrative yoga psychotherapist as part of the first cohort of this pioneering training.
My journey has been winding. I began as an HR professional in the construction industry, which led me to live in the Middle East for 12 years. After starting a family there, I took time off to focus on parenting, during which I was fortunate to retrain as a yoga teacher, specialising in pregnancy yoga. I taught at various studios, and when I relocated back to the UK with my husband and three young children, I decided to pursue my passion for yoga therapy. I enrolled at The Minded Institute to train as a Yoga Therapist, then extended my studies to Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy.
My training with The Minded Institute has been pivotal in my ongoing journey towards wholeness. Through my own experience of receiving yoga therapy and applying the teachings from the diploma in my life, I have been able to reconnect with and nurture my body, easing decades of tension and dysregulation. I’ve experienced firsthand how a holistic, bottom-up approach – focusing on the bio-psycho-social-spiritual aspects of the self – can reconnect us back to ourselves and our innate wisdom and have a profound impact on mental health.
For many years, yoga was my therapy. However, as the completion of the yoga therapy diploma neared, I still felt like something was missing. I had long been interested in psychology, but I knew I didn’t want to pursue a traditional psychotherapy training, as these typically took a top-down approach, focusing solely on the mind and overlooking the benefits of the bottom-up methods I had learned in yoga therapy. When Heather Mason announced the launch of the Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy (IYP) diploma – the first of its kind – I knew this path would allow me to integrate yoga and psychotherapy, creating a truly holistic approach to meet individual needs.
I have found through continuously working on myself in my own IYP therapy, as well as exploring and incorporating the studies from the taught modules, I have deepened my self-awareness, helping me identify and overcome long-standing blocks. This process is cultivating liberating self-compassion, empowering me to gradually embrace and integrate parts of myself on my ongoing path toward freedom.
My aim is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their inner worlds, gaining insight into how their thoughts, emotions, and experiences shape how they show up in the world for themselves and for others. I take a client-centred approach, guiding individuals as they work toward their goals at their own pace, helping them peel back layers of self-discovery and reconnect with their authentic selves. In doing so, I feel truly privileged to witness my clients embrace more fulfilling, purposeful lives, breaking free from the limitations that once held them back.
In my spare time, I enjoy walking in nature with my dog (and family, if I can get them out), catching up with friends, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, swimming, drumming, yoga and meditation, and a good sound bath.
