About
Fiona’s yoga journey began in 2015 during a difficult time in her life. In an attempt to restore her well-being, she discovered yoga therapy—a therapeutic practice that aims to guide individuals towards health and well-being through yoga. This was a breakthrough for her personal health and well-being and led to an emerging passion for the practice.
After spending time developing her practice through local community yoga classes, Fiona embarked on the trip of a lifetime to Rishikesh, India, to study for her 200-hour yoga teaching training qualification. She attended the Vinyasa Yoga School and studied alongside other yogis from around the world. There, she qualified in Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, as well as in the teachings of mantra, meditation, pranayama (breathing exercises), yoga philosophy, and therapy.
Once qualified, Fiona taught in various countries while traveling, as well as at local halls, yoga studios, and gyms around Nottinghamshire, Wiltshire, and Somerset. Moreover, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Yoga with Fiona Wellness adapted and innovated with online teaching.
Apart from her yoga practice, Fiona also works with Children’s Social Care as a social worker. This work complements her practice as she can identify the effects of trauma and how it can manifest within the body.
Fiona continued her professional development by completing a 580-hour Professional Diploma in Yoga Therapy with The Minded Institute, aiming to combine her passions for social work and yoga. She hopes to guide those who have experienced physical and mental trauma towards well-being through the practice of yoga. Fiona’s specialties are based around her work within her social work career, training, and personal experience.
