Follow your curiosity

A retreat can be a space for discovery as much as for rest. Time away from your usual routine offers an opportunity to explore how you relate to your body, where you place your attention and how you respond to yourself and others.

You might come to develop your mindfulness, deepen an existing practice, explore ways to improve your mental health or discover a different approach to personal growth. Or you might simply welcome time for rest, reflection and enjoyment.

Whatever draws you to a retreat, the invitation is to explore with curiosity and openness.

Learn from a teacher with depth of experience

Heather Mason is a yoga therapist and educator whose work connects contemplative practice with contemporary understanding of the mind and body.

Her expertise is also informed by lived experience. Her own long-term experience of depression, anxiety and PTSD led her to intensive contemplative practice in monasteries and ashrams across South and Southeast Asia. This personal exploration, alongside postgraduate study in Buddhist Studies, psychotherapy, medical physiology and neuroscience, helped shape her distinctive approach.

In these retreats, Heather shares that depth of experience through guided practice.

Explore the body, mind and heart

Yoga therapy practices invite exploration of the relationship between body, breath and mind. Mindfulness invites attention to present-moment experience with curiosity and less judgement, while relaxation practices offer time to rest.

Buddhist practices add a rich contemplative perspective. Loving-kindness and compassion practices explore how to cultivate warmth and care towards yourself and others, bringing a relational dimension to personal development.

Together, these approaches offer opportunities to develop self-awareness, deepen your understanding and explore qualities you would like to nurture in everyday life.

Contemplative wisdom, informed by science

Heather’s understanding of physiology and neuroscience informs both the choice of practices and the way they are guided.

Rather than treating the body and mind as separate, her approach explores their interplay through movement, breathing, awareness and rest. The emphasis is on exploring these relationships through practice, with space to notice your own responses.

The value of retreat extends beyond the time set aside: it can introduce ways of practising and reflecting that you choose to develop further in daily life.
