Sat Dharam Kaur – Kundalini Yoga Insights

Kundalini Yoga, with, Sat Dharam Kaur, practice for transformation and emotional regulation

Kundalini Yoga with Sat Dharam Kaur

At The Minded Institute, we hold Kundalini Yoga, a very specific and potent form of yoga, in high esteem. While it can be modified to be more gentle, it’s generally quite intense, activating the nervous system while also supporting its regulation. This intensity, with its rapid movements and breathwork, can cut through deeply entrenched mental states and ruminative thought. This approach and its powerful techniques are inspired by Sat Dharam Kaur, whose teachings guide practitioners through a deep and transformative inner process.

That said, for those earlier in their journey, such strong practices can sometimes exacerbate anxiety and may not be appropriate. Heather Mason, The Minded Institute founder, finds Kundalini Yoga incredibly powerful when she’s struggling to move through an emotion or persistent thought. She also has nearly 30 years of yoga practice behind her and notes this not as a requirement but to offer context—stronger practices tend to be more appropriate when there’s already a solid foundation of experience and self-awareness.

Recently, she came across a YouTube video by Sat Dharam Kaur that deeply resonated with her and has been practising it since. She feels called to share it, with the caveat that it’s best suited for those with a consistent yoga practice, a longstanding relationship to their inner process, and no history of asthma, bipolar disorder, or psychosis and are not pregnant. Find out more on her website.

If none of this applies to you, and you are looking for something potent and transformative, try it for yourself.
