Heather Mason speaks at Neuroscience and Yoga Conference 2024

If you have been following The Minded Institute for a while, you will know that we meld neuroscientific findings with yoga therapy to offer evidence-based and compassionate approaches to health. In fact, we are pretty obsessed with the amazing brain!

That’s why were thrilled to announce that Heather Mason, CEO & Founder of The Minded Institute will be leading a talk and a workshop at the Neuroscience and Yoga Conference, happening March 14 – 17, 2024. This unique event is designed to help you learn the actual science of how yoga affects the brain so you can improve how you practice, teach, and advocate for yoga.

Bringing Yoga into UK Health System Through Advocacy and Policy Change

Heather talk is on the topic of “Bringing Yoga into UK Health System Through Advocacy and Policy Change” on March 15th at 3pm GMT. The Minded Institute works tirelessly on working to bring Yoga into Healthcare around the world.

Bring Yoga into Healthcare: Shifting the Paradigm from Medical Students to Patients

Heather Mason recently lead a talk on “Bring Yoga into Healthcare: Shifting the Paradigm from Medical Students to Patients” at the College of Medicine Annual Student conference alongside national experts in integrated health. Physicians, doctors and researchers all took to the stage at the event, to explore the importance of integrated health in better health outcomes and inspire the next generation of students to champion this cause, both by bringing this work into their future practice and by banning together to modify the national curriculum so that it reflects the value of mind-body health approaches and lifestyle advice.

Heather hopes this talk will bring forward student champions from medical students around the nation who can jointly champion this effort for the betterment of themselves and patients. This model has been effective before in bringing social prescribing into medical school curriculum and can be repeated again.
In addition to galvanising student support Heather shared the Yoga in Healthcare Alliance’s new Yoga4NHS programme, which via an experiential 6-week course is helping staff to understand the value of yoga and also giving them skills to share with colleagues and patients.
Yoga as a Social Prescribing Tool

Her second workshop at the Neuroscience and Yoga conference is on the topic of “A Yoga Social Prescribing Protocol: Development, Research, and Progress” on March 17th at 1pm BST. Social prescribing is the simple idea that people who lead active social lives, enjoy better health and wellbeing than those faced with the challenges of social isolation and solitude.

Yoga students, teachers, and anyone interested in the science behind yoga are invited to join.
This conference is not just an event; it’s a movement towards integrating yoga with scientific understanding to enhance our practices, teachings, and advocacy for yoga’s role in health and wellness. Whether you’re looking to deepen your practice, share evidence-based yoga benefits with others, or connect with like-minded individuals, this conference is for you.
