Francoise Freedman (MA MSc PHD 200h RYT C-IAYT Yoga Therapist)
Françoise Barbira Freedman has interlaced her academic research and lecturing at Cambridge University with a life mission to inspire a holistic approach to maternity care integrating yoga.
The experience of two pregnancies in Peruvian Amazonia was life-changing and led her to design simultaneously the first Medical Anthropology of Birth course at Cambridge and the first teacher training courses in Yoga for Pregnancy, Postnatal Yoga and WellWoman Yoga at the London Yoga Therapy Centre in the 1990s. Françoise founded the charity ‘Birthlight’ in 1999 after 12 years of yoga teaching experience.
Françoise has published ten yoga books internationally including Aqua Yoga (1998), Baby Yoga (2000), Postnatal Yoga (2000), Yoga for Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond (2004, 2020), Yoga for New Mothers (2005), Yoga for Mother and Baby (2010) and Step-By-Step Yoga For Conception, Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond (2013).
As a mother of four and a grandmother, Françoise considers caring for her family her finest achievement.
