Yoga Therapy Diploma Taster and Lecture

Yoga therapy is an emerging healthcare profession that seamlessly offers a biopsychosocial model so coveted in both current healthcare settings and the private therapeutic sector.  Contrary to popular belief it is much more than just the application of yoga to health conditions and, at the Minded Institute, we are committed to spreading the word and educating the general public, health professionals, and yoga professionals about exactly what it entails.

On October 12th we are offering a FREE taster day for those interested in training as a Yoga Therapist and/or learning more about the field of yoga therapy more generally. The taster session will run from 10 am-1:15 pm (UK time) and will be followed at 1:30 pm (UK time) by a FREE lecture on “Yoga and Mental Health” from our founder Heather Mason. Those who attend the whole programme will receive a certificate of four and a half hours of attendance that can be used as CPD points. The Taster section of the day will include:

  • An overview of what yoga therapy is.
  • Information about the Minded Institute’s yoga therapy training.
  • A networking opportunity to meet like-minded people.
  • The chance to hear from, and ask questions of, our primary lecturers, senior staff, and graduates.
  • Information on how to progress onto Minded psychotherapy diploma; “Integrated Yoga Psychotherapy (IYP)”.

Even if you have no intention of joining either course, we welcome yoga teachers and health professionals who want to learn more about these fields and The Minded Institute’s specific approach to it, so come along, learn something different, and spend time with a new tribe

Please note: To receive a certificate of attendance for 4.5 CPD hours, you must attend the full session with your camera on.

This taster session is open to prospective students interested in the June 2025 intake for the Professional Diploma in Yoga Therapy (prospectus), as well as those considering our next intake of the Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy Diploma (prospectus). Additionally, yoga teachers and healthcare professionals curious about the field of yoga therapy are warmly invited to join us for this informative taster session.

You will find detailed information on the schedule, and those presenting, in the tabs below.

What is it Like to Train as a Yoga Therapist?

Being a yoga therapist is an incredibly fulfilling vocation, allowing you to use mind and body skills to help people with mental health conditions, chronic diseases, and anatomical problems. Yoga Therapists are increasingly in demand; our graduates go on to work in the NHS or alternative healthcare professions and many create their own Yoga Therapy programmes, charities and institutes, and even undertake yoga research.

The Minded Institute Yoga Therapy Diploma is equivalent to a level 6 qualification on the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) in England and Wales. As such, it is an academically rigorous programme, providing all trainees with deeply scientific, yogic, and medical knowledge, supporting personal reflection and transformation. Graduates often say how the diploma transformed their lives.

What is it Like to Train as a Yoga Psychotherapist?

For years, our graduates have been finishing the Minded Yoga Therapy programme and continuing on to train as psychotherapists in order to have a full mind-body scope of practice. Frustrated that other psychotherapy programmes were not somatic enough, were light on neuroscience and evidence, and required so much rereading of topics that had already been learned, we decided to launch the Minded Yoga Integrative Yoga  Psychotherapy training.

Yoga Therapists, whether trained by Minded or via another organisation, can significantly increase their scope of practice by becoming Integrative Yoga Psychotherapists. This pioneering one-year training is equivalent to a Level 7 on the FHEQ and allows practitioners to work as Integrative Yoga Psychotherapist, supporting their client’s needs.

Where Can I See More Yoga Therapy?

Observations make it possible to watch yoga therapy sessions unfold in real-time, offered by industry leaders who work with actual clients.  This provides a unique opportunity for observers to hone their own skills in the process. Each observation is followed by a Q&A session, providing a rich breeding ground for knowledge and exchanging of ideas with those who are shaping the field of yoga therapy right now. Upcoming observations include topics such as chronic pain, the intersection of trauma and chronic pain, diabetes, and Kundalini.

Minded Diploma Testimonials

The training has been personally transformational and has already opened so many doors for me professionally. This has included the chance to design and deliver a 6-week programme of evidence-based yoga and mindfulness practices and psychoeducation to 30 health professionals, roll out programmes of accessible yoga to underserved communities and provide Team Wellbeing Days for local businesses. The breadth and depth of what we learn on the course has made me confident to speak with professionals from a range of backgrounds and to feel like I am speaking their language. I would thoroughly recommend the Minded Institute to anyone wanting to really develop their understanding of the mind-body connection and its role in healing and recovery.
