Yoga for Arthritis was developed at a leading research university by an interdisciplinary team of medical and healing professionals. Combining ancient yoga practices with modern medical knowledge, this program offers modifications to address the unique abilities and limitations of persons with rheumatoid and/or osteoarthritis. In a 7-year randomized clinical trial, program participation was associated with improved arthritis symptoms, disease biomarkers, physical fitness, psychological functioning and quality of life.
Join yoga therapist Ann Swanson, MS, C-IAYT, LMT, ERYT500, author of the SCIENCE OF YOGA, to learn how to safely and effectively teach a rigorously researched yoga practice, with individually tailored modifications, to those with arthritis and chronic pain. As a result of taking this course, participants will:
- Become familiar with the most common arthritic conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, etc.
- Understand joint anatomy and pathophysiology as related to arthritis in depth
- Offer modifications for joint limitations and chronic pain
- Teach Yoga for Arthritis classes in their communities
- Work individually with arthritic clients of all ability levels
Prerequisite: 200 Hour Yoga Teacher training

About the Teacher;
Ann Swanson, MS, C-IAYT, LMT, ERYT500
Ann is a yoga therapist and author of the international release SCIENCE OF YOGA, which is being translated into over 15 languages. She holds a Master of Science in yoga therapy from Maryland University of Integrative Health and studied directly under Dr. Steffany Moonaz, the creator of Yoga for Arthritis. Ann uniquely applies cutting-edge research practically to yoga while maintaining the heart of the tradition.
