Therapeutic yoga is increasingly recognised for its value for individuals with cancer whether they are undergoing treatment or in remission. Research and a multitude of clinical reports find that therapeutic yoga reduces fatigue, improves mood, reduces pain, improves quality of life, and provides necessary skills for improving well-being for those who are in remission. As a gentle, adaptable practice that provides group support and enhances the mind-body connection yoga is now offered in various hospitals that specialise in cancer care, most notably, the world-renowned MD Anderson.

In the UK alone over 2.5 million people in the UK are living with cancer with figures predicted to rise to 4 million by 2030. Yoga teachers and yoga therapists with proper training can play an important role in integrative care for cancer patients.
